There are a LOT of niches
out there... So, how do you find one that's great for you?
Some people will tell you that you should look at only the potential
profitability of a niche. I can't say I fully agree with that. You see,
if you're just starting out in niche marketing, then I would recommend
that you pick a niche that you're comfortable with... something you
know a lot about or at least one that has your genuine interest, so
that it will hold your attention because you enjoy it. That way, you
won't experience the effort you put into it as work!
So, here are the 8 elements you should consider when selecting your
niche:
- How
much competion will you have? Did you know that competition is actually
a good thing? If there is no or very little competition, it's highly
likely that your niche is a dud. You'll want a market segment with some
healthy competition (but not too much :-)) and plenty of related
products so that you'll have
a significant number of avenues of advertising and promoting to explore.
- Does
the niche market have money to spend? For instance, you may have a
great idea, but if your buyers are college students, forget it... they
don't have any money to spare after spending it on beer and partying
:-).
- Is
your market growing or declining?
- Will
you enjoy starting a business in this market? Choose a niche you
love... and YOU WILL MAKE MONEY!
- Is
this
a niche that you could potentially dominate? It's important to promote
a service or product that people want as opposed to something that
people need.
- Don't
pick too broad a niche... Narrow it down to a sub-niche. For instance,
don't think "dogs", but think "dog training" and then move on to
"hunting dog training". Get the picture? The bigger your niche, the
more competition you'll have. Narrow it down, so you'll have a niche
you can potentially dominate. After all, wouldn't you rather be a big
fish in a little pond, rather than a little fish in a big pond?
- Will
you be promoting your own product or other people's products? If you're
just starting out, other people's products are easier to handle.
Although having your own product can be very lucrative, there's a huge
learning curve to face and you can still make excellent money
with other people's products!
- Will
you be promoting information products or physical products? That's a
purely personal preference. I prefer information products myself, that
can be
delivered digitally rather than a physical product, such as a cell
phone or a barbecue. If you go for an info product, then you will find
that a step-by-step how-to course in which you show your customers how
you can solve their problem can be quite profitable.
Okay,
now let's look into finding your profit
pulling niche ideas >>> !
